BEV ZIMMERMAN POTTERY

"Let the beauty we love, be what we do. There are hundreds of ways
to kneel and kiss the ground."

Statement

I am a collector of found things. I use found pods, leaves, knobby sticks and branches, gnarly roots, bark, flowers and feathers as a source of inspiration for design and imagery. I approach the clay intuitively working mostly with hand rolled slabs. Each slab becomes a blank canvas that is textured, cut and reconstructed into a unique design.
I often add words to the clay forms. Words add a human element to the pottery. My work offers me the interplay of intention and the unexpected. How thrilling it is to take a ball of clay and convince it to be somethng else.
