BEV ZIMMERMAN POTTERY

" It is as important to read poetry books as well as pottery books. Pottery manuals are helpful for technical data, but the poetry provides the essence, the elixir of life beyond the wind."
~Frans WIldenhain

Inspiration

The colors and shapes and textures of all living things, in all stages of life are a source of inspriration for me. The opening of a fern, the texture of tree bark, the fine lines of an individual leaf amaze me. Making art depends upon noticing things as a source of interest and inspration. Wonder is wordless and deeply personal.
A tiny leaf left burned into the clay is a kind of homage to our great and wondrous world. Bird shapes are a favorite subject these days. Small birds can be found on my boxes, covered jars and rattles.
I hope to convey an honest simplicity in my work.
