BEV ZIMMERMAN POTTERY

"Getting started, keeping going, getting started again - in art, and in life, it seems to me this is the essential rhythm."
~Seamus Heaney

Bio

In college and since I have studied art and design. I have been working in clay since 1995. I fire my work in my own electric kiln. I also fire my work in wood fired kilns at locations near my home. Wood-firing is communal, a true team effort in which the kiln is continuously stoked and monitored for 24 hours or more. The markings left on the pots are a result of the flame and the deposits of ash. The process is exciting and magical. The hard work is often rewarded with unexpected surprises.

Workshops and instructors continue to offer me the techniques to developing my abilities. I have attended classes and workshops at Hood College, Baltimore Clayworks, Haystack School of Crafts, Chester Springs Studio and Touchstone Center of Arts and Crafts.

I am currently a member of the Central PA Potters Group and a state juried member of the PA Guild of Craftsmen. My work has been exhibited at Central Market Art Galley, The Lancaster Museum of Art, The Red Raven Gallery, The Lancaster Arts Hotel, Lynden Gallery as well as various group shows in alternative venues.
I am one of many artists of the recently formed PA Arts Experience representing the Susquehanna River Valley region.
